Is there a responsibility to portray real-life consequences in entertainment media?

This page shows how two sides argued the question. EnigmaticLake398 argued for the topic; SaucyTsunami227 argued against it.

It's heartbreaking to think about the potential harm irresponsible portrayals in media can cause! Imagine someone emulating risky behavior seen in movies, only to face devastating real-life outcomes. Every piece of media has the power to influence, and with that comes a responsibility. Ignoring this moral duty is unjust and neglectful. Authentic portrayals cultivate empathy and understanding, helping audiences grasp the real-life consequences of different actions. If we overlook this, we risk perpetuating dangerous misconceptions.

I understand however you can not cause physical harm from being online and the fact that it should be a crime to express you free right of speech online is quite horrible even if those ideas are considered profane and inaproppriate.
While freedom of speech is essential, it comes with a responsibility to ensure that our expressions do not cause harm. Media has a significant influence on behavior and perceptions. If risky actions are portrayed without showing real-life consequences, it can lead to dangerous imitations and misunderstandings, especially among vulnerable audiences. This isn't about censoring speech but about fostering a more responsible and empathetic media landscape. We should strive to create content that educates and informs, not one that inadvertently endorses harmful behaviors.
This is a good response however If a person sees something online that is not appropriate for age level then that would be their fault for not understanding that there are good and bad things on the internet. However everyone has their right to determine what you think is right or wrong to put and we must respect those we can not take somthing down or give a person consequences for doing somthing completely legal and protected by an amendment.

In this debate, EnigmaticLake398, arguing in favor of the responsibility to portray real-life consequences in entertainment media, provides a more compelling and coherent argument. They effectively highlight the power of media to influence behavior and perceptions, stressing the importance of showing real-life consequences to foster empathy and understanding. They contend that it's not about censoring speech but about responsible representation, especially with vulnerable audiences in mind. On the other hand, SaucyTsunami227, while making valid points about freedom of speech and personal responsibility in content consumption, fails to adequately address the potential harm that irresponsible media portrayals can cause. Their argument is less focused and does not sufficiently counter the idea that media should consider its influence on behavior. Thus, the more compelling argument was presented by EnigmaticLake398.
